SIMPLIFY SIMPLIFY SIMPLIFY

Okay, that's what I'm doing - simplifying. Right now I have a whole room dedicated to crafting - all kinds of things. I would say 80% is scrapping, the rest is classroom stuff, other arts things and magazines.

So I know I don't have a million people who read my blog, but I'm hoping that out of the three or four of you - someone can give me some tips and ideas. We are probably moving in the next few months, maybe sooner, maybe later - who knows. And right now I have that whole room, but I won't have that once we move. I'll most likely have a closet and some drawers. So, tell me your tips and ideas on making it all work in a small space.

I may even have to share the small space I have with our home computer - so that means a space for Jason to do homework. I have really felt like simplifying things for a long time - but just haven't had the motivation to jump in, but now I am - jumping in head first. I really want to be able to use what I have - I feel like I'm wasting supplies - not using them, losing them in the chaos - whatever - but I've decided that I like certain things in a certain way. There's no reason to buy two pieces of one patterned paper - I won't use it. Unless I'm doing a mini album, I'm not going to use all eight pages in a line. It's just not going to happen, sadly. That's just me. I found pieces that I saved, just knowing I would use them eventually and eventually still isn't here.

It's time to let go.

So, please please please - give me some tips. Tell me something you do that helps you keep organized in a small space. Tell me your very favorite tip. PLEASE!! Enlighten me.

Leave me some great comments - I need more motivation to keep the process going.

Hmmm...well, like you I have a whole room for my crafting/computer stuff...so while it's normally neat and clean, there's still lots of space for everything. I recommend hanging files for paper & embellishments. That seems to be a good space saver for me and it makes everything easy to access.

There are lots of good articles about scrap rooms and organization stuff on Scrapjazz that might help too: http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Organization/

I scrap in a very small space. My craft room is also the first room you come into through our house, and it's also the playroom, so it's important to me that it's not over taken by my stuff.

1)Get a roll top desk if you can find one. (And I only suggest this because it's one of my very favorite things to have in a small space). It's great for leaving projects out, because you can close the lid and even if your desk is in an area of the house that has a lot of traffic, it's covered up. Also, desks like that tend to have a lot of cubby holes.

2)Figure out what your style of scrapping is and what supports that. Get rid of the other stuff. (Remind me to tell you more about that when I see you.)

3) Purge, purge, purge. I purge on a monthly basis. I have several friends that are new to scrapping, and they know that they can pretty much expect a bag of stuff from me every month. If you don't know anyone like that, you can always donate stuff to the children's ministry at church or a mother's day out program or something like that. I think this is a HUGE part of keeping a small space clutter free, because product can accumulate quickly.

4)Organize by how you scrap (see #2)- keep the stuff you use the most, closest to you. The things that are the furthest away- chances are, you won't miss 'em when you get rid of them. Be ruthless with your purging!

Being poor and on a budget seems to help me, too. ;) heheheeh

I'd love to talk with you more on this, because it's something I'm kind of passionate about... I love organizing!
