YES - I'm attempting to twitter!! Just giving in to another 'thing' - like i don't have enough 'things'!
Anyway - you can click over there on that little twitter button or widget or whatever they are called and you can follow me. Then if you twitter - i'll follow you!! and while you're at it - check out this blog and get your own twitter buttons for your blog!!
I realize I haven't blogged lately but the first graders are making me kind of nuts. I mean, I love teaching, but clearly, first grade isn't the place for me - unless that's the only job I can find, of course. The good news is, at the end of the day, the kids still say I'm the favorite sub. One of their past subs used the S word. Nope not the four letter one. Not the S-T-U-P-I-D one. But the SHUT UP one. GOOD GRIEF - that's a bad word in our house - for the most part!
Anyway - other things going on - hmmm, OH we're hoping to close on the house Thursday!! I'll let you know if that actually happens. We have a million things to do - nothing is packed!! But we're waiting to officially close before we start doing carpet, paint and all that jazz.
later - off to cook up some dinner!

woo hoo - we got the all clear!
all is well here in memphis - except it is COLD. I just brought a light jacket, but needed a coat. geesh, it's cold and windy. but the high tomorrow is 70. go figure.
anyway - scans are clear, hearing is fine, what else??? we have his height and weight, which I usually talk about, but it's from the regular assessment triage area, and I rather stick with what Endocrine comes up with - it's usually different, so we'll see what they say tomorrow morning. we're hoping to head out by 11:30 or so and be back in time for Jason to get to his 7pm class. Then it's back to the real world!!

St Jude and the Bull
So yesterday and today was the radiothon for St Jude that 102.5 the Bull holds each years. We got to the station around 4:30 or so and got to see the phones being manned and we saw a fellow St. Jude mom, as well. We went into the studio and met Dollar Bill and Madison. Cole had his picture made with all the gang there. He was very polite!! Shaking hands and all that. It was cute. Anyway, Jason talked for a little while and then we left!
We always feel like this is something we just have to do - we have to try to help!! Anyway - you can go to 102.5 the Bull - click on "view gallery" under the "St. Jude Radiothon" and you'll see pictures! We're close to the end.
Did anyone hear Jason and Cole? If you did, let me know. Of course, we couldn't hear it since we were in the studio!!

My baby is 8!!
I cannot believe my sweet little boy is 8! 8 years old! That is crazy!! I'll do a birthday post maybe tomorrow night - I've got to edit some photos.
Check this out - Cole actually wanted a Snuggie. You know, the blanket with sleeves!! So I made him one. He wanted to know where the book light was. And then he asked me where the laptop was because he saw on the commercial that you could 'stay snugglie warm while using your laptop'. Crazy Kid!!
Today was Cole's Valentine party at school. His teacher is going to be out the next two days and some next week. She's having sinus surgery (say a prayer it goes well)! Anyway, they partied today instead of Friday so she wouldn't miss it. So since they were getting loads of sugar today, I thought we'd wait until tomorrow to have the Birthday Snack with his class. So tomorrow the kids are getting Cole's favorite snack - chocolate chip cream sandwiches by Little Debbie and Capri Sun's. Then they are getting a cute little goodie bag - with these fun pencils in them!
Well, I need to go stuff the goodie bags, get my things together for school tomorrow and iron some clothes. I'll post birthday pictures soon and hey, if you are in the Birmingham area - check out 102.5 the Bull tomorrow and Friday. The will be doing the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Annual Radiothon. The stories always tug at my heart. Especially since Cole is one of those stories. We're hoping to make it to the station Friday afternoon and Jason will probably be on the air after 5. It's over at 6 both days. If you can, listen for a while - it'll make you appreciate life so very much!!
Have a wonderful Thursday. I'll be hanging with the first graders and I'm sure it'll be a blast. They are fun! I love the kids in Cole's room! And I'll get to see his little girlfriend, too! Did I mention he has a girlfriend? Or should I say an admirer! She asked me if she could call him. Sweet! And then she said that she knows Cole walks a little slow, and runs slow, but she's doesn't mind. She was so sweet. I tried to take a picture of the two of them together today, but she wasn't having it. She kept looking away!

the BEST tag ever
Michelle tagged me with what could very well be the best TAG ever! If you know me at all, you know I love music - I have for as long as I can remember. And I remember my first record player and my first album (Pat Benetar). I remember my first CD player and CD (Skid Row). OH, totally skipped the cassette tapes. I remember my first tape player, but not my first tape. I do remember recording things off the radio - just by putting my tape deck next to the radio!! I used to tape my favorite songs off the top 40 countdown on Sunday's. I used to love watching American Bandstand and hearing the newest songs. I also LOVED Dance Party USA!!!
Anyway - here's how it goes:
It's a list of 10 songs that grab you emotionally, whether it's a lump in the throat or brings tears to your eyes, or evokes some fond memories.
This is a hard list to make - there are so many songs for me!!
1. Somewhere in the Sun - Kenny Chesney
2. It's Your Love - Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
3. Don't Speak - No Doubt
4. I'm Moving On - Rascal Flatts
5. Wide Open Spaces - Dixie Chicks (yes, I know, I know - but I like this ONE song)
6. I Hope You Dance - LeAnne Womack
7. Something in the Way She Moves - James Taylor
8. I Go Back - Kenny Chesney
9. Stay - Lisa Loeb
10. Escape (The Pina Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes
And Michelle did an Honorable Mention list, so I feel like I can too!
1. One Particular Harbor - Jimmy Buffett
2. Little Miss Magic - Jimmy Buffett
3. Push - Matchbox 20
4. All We Are - Matt Nathanson
5. Love Song - Tesla
6. Stupid Boy - Keith Urban
Now I feel like I should explain a few choice - just for fun (and I'm procrastinating on doing a few other things).
1. Somewhere in the Sun - Kenny Chesney - I've talked about this one before - this whole CD was my escape when Cole was in the hospital in Mobile (this very month four years ago). I would hit PLAY everytime I got in the Blazer and headed home to to laundry, or pick up toys or whatever. I would listen to this over and over and think about the day we'd be 'somewhere in the sun' - and I didn't mean the parking lot of that darned hospital!!
2. It's Your Love - Tim McGraw and Faith Hill - this is our song - so you know, i love it!
3. Don't Speak - No Doubt - I remember sitting in the floor behind the counter at Musicland, reading the lyrics to this song and my eyes filling with tears - mostly because of where I was in my life at the time!! I remember Michelle talking to me and I couldn't even form a thought to answer her. I like the song now but it isn't the same anymore - thankfully!
4. I'm Moving On - Rascal Flatts - this is a theme for me I think. There was a certain time in my life where I really needed to MOVE ON. I needed to grow up. I needed to stand on my own. I did that and when I hear this song - it reminds me of that time.
5. Wide Open Spaces - Dixie Chicks - I know I'm not supposed to like them. I don't. But, this song was way before Natalie opened her big mouth and talked bad about "W". Anyway - another moving on kind of song. I love the part about the dad reminding her to 'check her oil' - something my dad would do. And I really needed the wide open spaces so I could grow up!!
6. I Hope You Dance - LeAnne Womack - this was a hit when Cole was born. He was pretty colicy and liked to be up late crying. So I would turn this on the CD player and we'd walk around the living room until he calmed down and fell asleep. He loved watching the video, too - but now doesn't even remember the song.
7. Something in the Way She Moves - James Taylor - his voice is amazing. I loved this song the first time I heard it. And it has nothing to do with the fact the David played it for Donna during his radio show in high school (you know - 90210). Really, nothing to do with that! lol
8. I Go Back - Kenny Chesney - this song gets me everytime I hear it. I love the thought that just a song can take you back to a moment in time. The whole part about 'the loss of a real good friend and the 16 summers I shared with him' - that gets me. My cousin's husband comes to mind. I knew him for 16 summers when he died.
9. Stay - Lisa Loeb - Jason made fun of this song and me several times this weekend. I just got new glasses and had straight hair this weekend so he thought I was channeling my inner Lisa Loeb. Maybe I was?? I still love the song and play it LOUD in the car - even when I'm not wearing the Lisa Loeb glasses!
10. Escape (The Pina Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes - This is just a great song - I love it. I had this cd, well actually it was a Billboard Top Ten cd. Kristin and I used to listen to it in the car. So when I hear it now, I think of her!
And as far as the Honorable Mentions - Love the two Jimmy songs - just reminds me of different times in Mobile. Jason was a huge Buffett fan when we met and I wasn't all OH I LOVE JIMMY BUFFETT but I knew several songs and liked his music. Later, I loved more and more songs and when I hear them now - it reminds me of good times with friends!!
Push is my all time favorite Matchbox 20 song - not specific reason - I just love it. It seems I have a thing for songs like that (Don't Speak, Push and Stupid Boy all share a few common things).
Love Song is just great. I remember blasting it in my little Mazda, with my sunroof open and doing the circle in Hueytown. That cd is still in my disc changer in my studio. Love it!!
Okay - if you made it this far - thanks!! And now I want to tag Virginia and Mandy (I really want to see your lists), and since Michelle did it, I think J. should, too - but I doubt he reads my blog, so Michelle - pass it on for me!!
Ok - now I need to do all my stuff! I have to sew a snugglie today for my Birthday Boy - I can't believe he'll be 8 tomorrow!!

Matt Nathanson or Scrap Etc Event
Two of my favorite things.
Scrapbooking with awesome girls at the Wishful Thinking Event from Scrap Etc.
Matt Nathanson.
What do these two things have in common?
ATLANTA ON MAY 2nd.
What's a lovestuck girl to do??
I got so excited. I got my Matt email telling me about the spring tour. I was ready to tell Jason I would give up going to see Kenny Chesney for the 6th time (shocker, I know) if we could just go see Matt in Atlanta. I was ready to BEG!!
Then I saw the date.
And I'll already be in Atlanta.
But I'll be working the event.
The only other girl I know that loves Matt is Katie. And I thought to myself - hey, maybe she would sneak out of the event with me for some Matt love. Then I remembered that someone said she may not be going - busy time at work or something like that.
So, now I'm bummed, again!
Katie???
I mean, there is no one else I would give up a Kenny concert for - NO ONE!! And seriously, the last event in Nashville - there was a Kenny look alike in the bar in the hotel and some of the girls at the event came to tell me about seeing Kenny. So you know it's a big deal when people I had just met for the first time in real life already knew about my Kenny obsession. I mean, I wore boots the first day in Nashville because it was Nashville. I checked Kenny's concert schedule to see if he was in town - he wasn't, sadly. ALL THIS LOVE for Kenny and I'm willing to not go to a concert of his - which is here in B'ham the week after the event.
Oh the stress!!
(Dad, I know you are totally rolling your eyes at me - that's okay. At least it's not 90210!!)
:)

Want to win a free spot to the next Scrap Etc event?
Well, you can't win one here - but I know where you can!! Go check out Gretchen's blog - she is teaching at the Scrap Etc Event Wishful Thinking. It's April 30th through May 2nd and it is sure to be a fabulous time. I'm on the event team and LOVE that I get to see peeks at things and here about stuff before it happens. I love going to the events and getting to meet people, reconnecting with people I haven't seen in a while (last even I saw two people I hadn't seen in over ten years - how cool is that?) and just hanging out with all the girls.
So, basically I'm here to tell you - it's tons of fun!!! So no matter where you live - my Mobile friends and my London friend - go look at Gretchen's blog and leave a comment - maybe you'll win the spot!!
Are you still here? GO!!

What is it that you do all day?
That's the question I get a lot when Jason comes home. Mostly because there will be toys in the floor, or dirty dishes. Little does he know - the toys were put away until about 3:15 and the dishes were all clean until I cooked my lunch and made another mess. Anyway - this is what I did today:
This is Cole's countdown to his BiRtHdAy!!
Sadly, I didn't do this until today, so we had to skip the 11 and 10 and jump right to the 9! I did 11 days since his birthday is on the 11th.
Here are a few of my fave's:
(Today's is an envelope with a little note to remind him it's nine days until his birthday but only four until his PARTY). Each day we move the clothes pin over to the next spot!
I like this one, too - love green and black together.
I spent about twenty minutes using the Accucut at Scrap Etc today!
I love that place - and yes, most of my days I spend there. I don't know what I'll do when we move and it's too far to just run by!! I do still have to take Cole to school though and pick him up - so I mean, I could easily just slip by Scrap Etc, right? To cut out more fun stuff?
Okay - I'm outta here.
Sleepy time!
lisa
